Last year, Laurentian University awarded more than $8 million in scholarships and bursaries to undergraduate students.
The university is dedicated to helping students attain a quality education by offering access to many sources of funding, from scholarships and bursaries, to grants and federal loans.
Calculating your average for awards
For award purposes, Laurentian University calculates averages based on the top six marks from Grade 12 or level 4 U/M courses, regardless of prerequisites for the intended program of study.
Guaranteed Entrance Scholarship - Automatically awarded
80 - 84.9% $1,500 ($1,000 after first year)
85 - 89.9% $2,000
90 - 94.9% $2,500
95 - 100% $3,500

Awarded: $1,000 in the first year
Requirements: Minimum of 24 credits of first year course load in French
Leadership Award
Awarded: $1,000 in first year
Requirements: Community involvement, young leader
Application: Guidance counsellors nominate recipient of the award
Dr. Judith Woodsworth President’s Scholarship and
National Deans’ Entrance Scholarships for Excellence (one awarded per faculty)
Awarded: $22,000 ($5,500/year for four years)
Requirements: 90% average
Application: Due May 1, 2009; Application in offer of admission

Athletic Awards
Student-athletes entering first year with an average of 80 per
cent or more may be eligible for scholarships of up to $3,500.
Returning student-athletes may qualify for athletic awards up
to a maximum of $3,500 if they maintain at least a 70 per cent
average in their university program. Nearly 30 sports-related
scholarships and bursaries are available.
OSAP and Other Grants and Bursaries
The Student Awards office takes care of grants, bursaries,
scholarships and loans including OSAP (Ontario Student
Assistance Program funded by the provincial and federal
governments). Ontario special bursaries, bursaries for students
with disabilities, and work-study programs are also available.
